About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Physiotherapist to join our team in the Rehabilitation Services department at Nova Scotia Health. As a Physiotherapist, you will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients in a tertiary care setting who present with actual or potential impairment, pain, functional limitations, or disabilities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting thorough medical histories and performing standardized tests and evaluation procedures to determine physical diagnoses
  • Developing holistic treatment programs using exercises, education, and manual, mechanical, electrical, and hydrotherapy techniques to assist patients in regaining and/or maintaining optimal levels of function
  • Communicating with other health disciplines, the general public, family members, and caregivers regarding health promotion, physiotherapy treatment, and patient management
  • Providing supervision and evaluation of physiotherapy students and supervision of physiotherapy assistants and aides
  • Collaborating with colleagues to determine team goals and objectives, participating in the evaluation of team effectiveness, and solving problems and sharing responsibilities

About You

We are seeking a Physiotherapist who possesses the following qualifications and skills:

  • Bachelor's degree or entry-level master's program in Physiotherapy from an accredited university
  • Membership with the Nova Scotia College of Physiotherapists (provincial licensing body)
  • Computer skills (statistics input, word processing, Outlook)
  • Annual Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation certification (BCLS)
  • WHMIS training and certification
  • Additional courses/education/training in specialized areas or practice, e.g., cardio-respiratory techniques, acupuncture, stroke rehabilitation, manual therapy, balance training, etc.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours

This is a permanent, full-time position with 75 hours bi-weekly. The successful candidate will commence on September 1, 2024, and will be required to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, and weekends.
