We are seeking an experienced Data Engineering Lead to join our team at Intact Financial Corporation.

About the Role

This is a key leadership role within our data science lab, where you will be responsible for guiding the design, development, and delivery of efficient, effective, and secure data pipelines using cloud technologies such as Databricks, Amazon Web Services, and Snowflake. Our primary goal is to provide high-quality data to our scientists for machine learning purposes.

As a Data Engineering Lead, you will work closely with quality analysts, business analysts, application architects, and data architects to implement industry best practices and drive change within our organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and deliver efficient, effective, and secure data pipelines using cloud technologies.
  • Lead the implementation of industry best practices in data engineering.
  • Grow our data engineering practice to make our lab an industry benchmark.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • 6+ years experience in Software Engineering / Data Engineering / ETL development / Data Warehousing.
  • Experience in Big Data and Cloud technologies for processing large volumes of data.
  • Understanding of data management, security, and data classification.
  • Understanding of machine learning and artificial intelligence.
  • Strong proficiency in Python programming language and PySpark Framework.
  • For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country.
  • No Canadian work experience required; however, must be eligible to work in Canada.
