Job Title: After School Activity Club Assistant

Queen Margaret's School is seeking a qualified candidate to assist in the development and delivery of planned activities for our After School Activity Club participants (aged 5-9) at Queen Margaret's School between 3:00 and 5:00 pm on days when school is in session.

About the Role

We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about working with children and has the ability to develop positive relationships with students. The ideal candidate will be able to contribute to a collaborative learning community and have a strong understanding of child development and needs.

Responsibilities
  • Support and promote on-site and off-site activities for students
  • Participate in planned physical sport or events/activities
  • Maintain knowledge of whereabouts of students under care
  • Escalate discipline issues as needed
Requirements
  • Must be 19 or older (due to licensing regulations)
  • Familiarity with child development and needs
  • Experience working with large groups of students
  • A cheerful disposition and a passion to engage students in their development and growth
  • Ability to maintain composure in stressful situations
  • Ability to manage emergent situations and take decisive action
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others to achieve common goals and positive results
  • Adaptability to changing situations
  • Understanding of appropriate boundaries
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with children
  • Emergency First Aid/Childcare Emergency First Aid or higher
  • Class 4 Driver's License and clean driver's abstract is an asset
Working Conditions
  • 3:00 to 5:00 pm when school is in session (i.e., not Christmas Break, Spring Break, or planned Pro-D days)
