Postdoctoral Researcher Opportunity in Leukemia Research

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join our research team at the University Health Network (UHN) in Toronto, Canada.
About the PositionThis temporary full-time position is for 1 year with the option to extend or convert to a permanent position based on performance and compatibility with the research team.
The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic research group focused on preclinical leukemia research, utilizing intravital fluorescence microscopy imaging to study leukemia initiation, biology, and treatment strategies.
Responsibilities- Collaborate with other Postdoctoral Fellows to lead hematopoietic stem cell and leukemia-related research projects, including conceptualizing project aims, developing experimental timelines, and preparing research updates.
- Perform intravital imaging of rodents using various techniques, including widefield imaging, confocal and multi-photon microscopy, bioluminescent imaging, computed tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging.
- Develop and conduct experiments evaluating new leukemia treatment strategies, such as immunotherapies, small-molecule inhibitors, transplantations, and radiation.
- Produce high-quality scientific publications related to the research undertaken.
- Conceive new research directions, build new projects, and participate in grant writing for the lab as necessary.
- Troubleshoot, evaluate, and adjust protocols to improve data quality or respond to experimental needs.
- Maintain accurate documentation of generated data.
- Adhere to Quality Control and Quality Assurance programs to support lab operations and maintain laboratory standards.
- Completion of a doctoral degree (PhD) from a recognized institution.
- Strong background (> 3 years) in hematologic cancer biology and immunology, with a compelling peer-reviewed scientific publication record.
- Animal handling and microsurgery skills are required.
- Familiarity with molecular and cellular laboratory techniques, e.g., cell culture, virus transduction, ELISA, flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, is required.
- Experience with in vivo imaging techniques, particularly confocal and/or multi-photon optical microscopy, is highly preferred.
- Well-developed computer skills and/or the ability to learn new computer programs for analyzing imaging data is an asset.
- Ability to scientifically plan experiments, analyze data, and work collaboratively with various research partners.
The UHN offers a competitive salary range of $65,000-$75,000 CAD per annum, depending on experience, plus additional benefits and perks, including:
