Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering individualized literacy programming to adult learners in a supportive and inclusive environment. This role will involve developing and implementing innovative learning opportunities, specifically designing and delivering lessons for stage 1 learners, working one on one with beginning learners. The incumbent will promote the program while supporting the goals and objectives of the CAHRD Centre for Aboriginal Human Resource Development Inc and the Aboriginal community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare subject material for presentation to students who require individualized learning plans
  • Collaborate with staff members to deliver lesson plans to level 1 students
  • Develop and implement remedial programs for Level 1 students
  • Deliver lesson plans/activities using a systematic approach, incorporating lectures, discussions, audio-visual presentations, and field studies
  • Assign and correct homework
  • Prepare, administer, and correct tests
  • Determine individual students' learning needs, plans, goals, and objectives
  • Evaluate and assess student progress and discuss results with students and school officials
  • Participate in staff meetings, educational conferences, and instructor training workshops
  • Contribute to the planning and coordination of school events and activities

Requirements

  • Relevant post-secondary education (degree or diploma), or an acceptable combination of education and experience
  • Demonstrated expertise in the field of instruction, specifically with Literacy Learners an asset

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Superior skills in team leadership, communication, time management, critical thinking, decision making, and organizational management
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications and Internet use
  • Operational knowledge of the Internet and web-related technologies
  • Professional work ethic and the ability to exercise good judgment when dealing with challenging situations
  • Knowledge of the Winnipeg Urban Aboriginal Community
