Support Worker for a Challenging yet Rewarding Role

Spectrum Society for Community Living is seeking a Support Worker to join our team and provide dedicated support to a valued individual. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with all aspects of personal care, including feeding and transfers using our ceiling lift.

The ideal candidate will have a strong ability to motivate, encourage, and engage the interests of others, as well as supporting individuals who get anxious. Computer proficiency is also a requirement.

This is a challenging yet rewarding role that requires a driver's license (Class 4) and a 3-month probationary period.

Key Responsibilities:
• Assist with all aspects of personal care, including feeding and transfers using our ceiling lift.
• Support the individual with their daily activities, including appointments and outings.
• Engage the individual's interests and promote their independence.
• Collaborate with the individual's team to ensure a seamless support experience.
• Maintain accurate records of the individual's care and support.

Requirements:
• Driver's license (Class 4)
• 3-month probationary period
• Computer proficiency
• Ability to motivate, encourage, and engage the interests of others
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Physical stamina to perform the duties of the role

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience working with individuals with complex needs
• Knowledge of communication methods used by individuals with disabilities
• Ability to work with a pictorial book and eye movement to communicate
