At the University of Saskatchewan, we are seeking a talented Software Developer, Student Information Systems to join our team. This exciting opportunity offers a unique chance to work in a collaborative environment and contribute to the development and maintenance of our student information systems ecosystem.
About the Role:
This entry-level position provides an excellent opportunity for growth and advancement in a dynamic and supportive team. As a Software Developer, you will work closely with senior staff to determine and implement technical solutions that support service improvement initiatives and projects.
You will utilize the ICT Enterprise Architecture principles when working with clients to determine technical requirements and solutions. These principles emphasize the value of data as both an asset and a shared resource, minimizing duplication of systems and processes, and integration with, and security of, information systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the success of colleagues and clients by sharing expertise and knowledge and focusing on customer relationships, assisting in preparing business cases, and reviewing design or configuration designs when requested.
- Develop and execute test cases, adequately testing software prior to user acceptance testing or sign-off.
- Work effectively with functional staff and end users to capture specifications for system changes and enhancements and support for acceptance testing when required.
- Accurately estimate effort and impact of making software changes and report task progress and status in an effective and timely manner.
- Where appropriate, customize and enhance supported systems and interfaces with other systems, and prepare usable technical and user documentation of those changes.
- Provide expertise, advice, and support with respect to ICT's security, reporting, ID management, customization, and core services policies and processes.
- Ensure system and data integrity within all supported applications in order to limit the University's exposure to undue risk.
- Understand information sources and reports used to support the unit in meeting audit requirements and to aid in internal planning and problem-solving.
Requirements:
The successful candidate will possess technical aptitude, people skills, and experience with supporting technology and familiarity with the software lifecycle and software development. A post-secondary diploma and one to three years of experience maintaining and operating a variety of technologies would be an asset. We appreciate that non-traditional career paths may have developed a candidate's competency, and alternate combinations of education and experience will be considered.
Salary:
We offer a competitive salary range of $52,050.00 - 81,328.00 per annum, commensurate with education and experience. The starting salary will be based on the candidate's qualifications.
About Us:
The University of Saskatchewan values diversity and Indigenous engagement is a strategic priority. In support of this priority, you will actively engage in learning to develop an understanding of diverse perspectives and how to incorporate equity, diversity, and inclusion into your work.
This position may be eligible for hybrid work under the terms of USask's Alternative Workspace Guidelines.
