**Overview:**

The BC SPCA is a dynamic organization with facilities and services across the province of BC. We are seeking an experienced Animal Care Attendant to join our expanding team in Burnaby, BC.

**Job Summary:**

This role requires a passionate individual who is dedicated to providing exceptional care for animals in our shelter. As an Animal Care Attendant, you will work collaboratively with others to maintain a clean, sanitary, and efficient environment for the animals. You will also provide front desk support when required, ensuring excellent customer service skills and building trusting relationships with colleagues, customers, and volunteers.

**Responsibilities:**

  • Maintain kennel runs and cat cages in a clean, sanitary, and efficient manner on an ongoing basis.
  • Treat animals humanely, compassionately, and with concern, transmitting these values to others both on and off the job.
  • Provide animals with a proper diet and ensure they receive adequate food and water.
  • Ensure animals' health and well-being adhere to the society's animal health policy, including administering medications as specified by the animal health technologist or other authorized shelter staff.
  • Maintain high standards to portray the image of the BC SPCA as a compassionate and caring organization.
  • Assist in coordinating volunteer work in the spirit of teamwork for the benefit of all animals.
  • Perform other duties necessary to ensure the smooth operation of the shelter.

**Requirements:**

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Class N or 5 BC Drivers' License and driver's abstract.
  • Philosophical harmony with the mission, vision, and strategic direction of the BC SPCA.
  • Demonstrated interest in all aspects of animal welfare.
  • Sound knowledge of animals, their breeds, characteristics, and common diseases.
  • Strong desire to provide excellent customer service skills: patience, professionalism, positive attitude, attention to detail, adaptability.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Resourceful team player who excels at building trusting relationships with colleagues, customers, and volunteers.
  • Ability to prioritize demands on time.
  • Computer experience: Windows, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).

**What We Offer:**

An estimated annual salary of approximately $42,000, depending on experience, plus benefits and opportunities for professional growth in a dynamic and rewarding work environment.
