VenorTalent is proud to partner with Nova Construction in their search for a seasoned financial leader to join their team.
Nova Construction is a leading road building industry player based in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, with a strong presence in Newfoundland, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in guiding company financial management and driving initiatives that ensure Nova Construction's continued success.
Key Responsibilities- Financial Reporting: Directly involved in the preparation, review, and presentation of financial statements in accordance with regulatory requirements and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Financial Planning and Analysis: Responsible for developing financial strategies, forecasts, and budgets to guide the company's operations.
- Tax Planning, Compliance, and Preparation: Oversee and actively participate in the preparation and filing of corporate tax returns, ensuring accuracy and adherence to tax laws and regulations in all jurisdictions.
- Risk Management: Identify and assess financial risks facing the company, such as market, credit, and operational risks.
- Treasury Management: Manage the company's cash flow and liquidity, ensuring adequate funds are available for operating expenses and capital expenditures.
- Strategic Planning: Collaborate with other senior leaders to develop and execute the company's strategic initiatives, expansion plans, and investment opportunities.
- Corporate Governance: Ensure compliance with corporate governance principles and best practices, including oversight of internal controls, risk management processes, and ethical standards.
- Leadership and Team Development: Provide leadership and guidance to the finance team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10-15 years of progressive experience in accounting, finance, or related roles, with at least 5-7 years in senior management and leadership positions.
- Extensive experience in financial reporting, analysis, and understanding of GAAP and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with other senior leaders.
- Experience in the construction industry and large projects is considered an asset.
- CPA designation and/or MBA preferred.
