Academic Advisor

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Educational Counsellor to join our team at Western British Columbia Polytechnic College.
Job SummaryThe successful candidate will provide academic guidance and support to students, parents, and teachers, while also coordinating the provision of counselling and information services. This is a permanent, full-time position with a work language of English and a work term of 30-35 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities- Consult with teachers, parents, administrators, and community agencies to provide academic guidance and support.
- Coordinate the provision of counselling and information services to students, parents, and teachers.
- Administer and interpret standardized intelligence, aptitude, and interest tests.
- Visit colleges and secondary schools to provide academic information to prospective students, their parents, and educational institutions.
- Prepare and deliver presentations at conferences, workshops, and symposia.
- Provide ongoing professional development, training, and consultative services to teachers.
- Evaluate curriculum programs and recommend improvements.
- Develop teaching materials and other resources for program delivery.
- Advise students on course and academic matters and career decisions.
- Academic program or credit evaluation.
- Career or post-secondary training orientation.
