Occupational Therapist

Health PEI is seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join our team at Community Hospital. As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and promoting health and well-being in our community.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will provide occupational therapy treatment to clients with possible rotation to Western Hospital and Prince County Hospital. You will assume administrative responsibilities and promote the understanding of occupational therapy services.
You will work independently to maximize patients' potential to function independently using various techniques, equipment, and assessment tools in community settings.
Duties and Responsibilities- Conduct functional assessments to determine the need for occupational therapy
- Develop, plan, and implement appropriate occupational therapy for patients
- Work independently to respond to patient inquiries, provide follow-up care, and make referrals to other healthcare providers and community agencies
- Act as a resource person to other team members, healthcare providers, and the community
- Perform administrative functions such as updating client information files and planning and organizing work activities
- Supervise, guide, and appraise the performance of rehabilitation assistants
- Assign work schedules and approve leave
- Determine work assignments, work rotations, and vacation schedules
- Assist in the development of provincial policies and procedures
- Record and report statistical and outcome measures data
- A Master's Degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy
- Eligibility for licensing with the Prince Edward Island College of Occupational Therapists
- Considerable experience working as a practicing Occupational Therapist
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in dealing with patients, families, and community organizations
- Canadian (CAOT) membership eligibility
- A demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively in a team environment
- A valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle
- A good previous work and attendance record
We offer a competitive salary range of $80,000-$110,000 per year, based on experience, as well as excellent benefits, including health and dental insurance, paid time off, and professional development opportunities.
