About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Forensic Accountant (Loss Quantification) to join our Claims team.

As a Forensic Accountant in the Claims department, your work will have a significant impact on our investigation of business interruption calculations. You will possess a clear passion for extracting evidence from data combined with a strong investigative mentality to support our Claim Adjusters in the adjudication of claims.

You will be responsible for analyzing and calculating the loss incurred by the insured following an accident by examining accounting records provided. You will also communicate directly with customers to obtain relevant documentation and explain the work done on their claim.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Verify the validity of business interruption claims
  • Analyze financial documents while respecting commitments and obligations to customers
  • Listen to and anticipate customer needs, offering the best solutions
  • Provide technical support to adjusters and team leaders, ensuring timely follow-up
  • E nsure work is completed in accordance with the team workflow and deadlines
  • Communicate with customers and their accountants, collaborating with the claims adjuster in charge of the file loss
  • Communicate results in a clear, precise, caring, and authentic manner to the claims adjuster or customer, adapting communication style accordingly
  • Provide a fair and equitable result considering policy, standards, rules, applicable laws, and company processes
  • Develop efficient workflows and processes for timely resolution of files

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Accounting and Finance
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in good standing, with CFE exam passed
  • 5-7 years of professional experience within a large organization
  • Forensic Accounting experience is considered an asset
  • Experience in the insurance sector is considered an asset
  • Strong customer service experience through written and verbal communication
  • Ability to negotiate and make quality decisions at the appropriate time
  • S elf-driven
