About This Opportunity

Black & McDonald's Southern Ontario team is growing. We're seeking a motivated and enthusiastic professional to join our team as a Senior Mechanical Estimator. If you have a strong background in mechanical estimating and a passion for delivering exceptional results, we'd love to hear from you.

The Senior Mechanical Estimator will work closely with our Chief Estimator to prepare estimates of probable costs for construction projects. You'll be responsible for analyzing tenders, recommending tender awards, and conducting negotiations. Your advanced knowledge of mechanical drawings and trade fluency will be essential in this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare estimates of probable costs for construction projects
  • Analyze tenders and recommend tender awards
  • Conduct negotiations with suppliers and subcontractors
  • Establish and maintain tendering processes and cost monitoring systems
  • Coordinate price packages with suppliers and subcontractors
  • Participate in site reviews and tender reviews
  • Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers and subcontractors
  • Liaise with engineers, architects, and owners to prepare economic feasibility studies

Requirements

  • 10-15 years of experience as a Mechanical Estimator on ICI projects
  • Graduate of Mechanical Engineering program or Construction Technology program with related work experience
  • Qualified tradesperson in mechanical field with several years' experience and previous estimating experience
