Nordic Area Director

Winter Wonderland at Cypress Mountain
We are seeking a charismatic and experienced Nordic Area Director to lead our team of 150 seasonal employees in providing exceptional winter experiences for over 100,000 guests each season. As the heartbeat of our winter operations, you will be responsible for overseeing the entire Nordic skiing and snowshoe trail systems, Tube Park, Hollyburn Lodge, and Nordic Café.
Key Responsibilities:
- Health & Safety/Risk Management: Champion and adhere to all OHS company policies, programs, and procedures, including documentation. Ensure all Team members have completed annual training and on-boarding, including OHS documentation.
- Professional Development: Foster a positive environment where team members are given the opportunity to grow and expand their skill set and have a rewarding work experience. Embody the company's core values: Kindness, Respect, and Professionalism (K.R.P.) and Long-Term Thinking, Excellence in Execution, Attitude is Everything, Develop Great People, and Serve First (L.E.A.D.S.).
- Customer Service: Lead the team in delivering exceptional experiences for all guests in the Nordic Area. Be readily available to assist with any situations that arise, offering support and guidance to resolve guest inquiries effectively. Maintain, support, and grow positive relationships with other departments, clubs, groups, NGOs, and government organizations.
- Financial Management: Monitor and expand existing revenue streams and seek new revenue avenues. Manage operating costs, labor, and margin in all lines of business.
- Operations Management: Provide oversight and coordination of operations throughout the Nordic area to ensure maximum efficiency. Coordinate with operational support departments (Grooming, Snow Removal, F&B, Maintenance).
Requirements:
- Excellent interpersonal skills, able to give and receive feedback.
- Strong Project Management skills.
- Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
- Proficient with MS Office and other computer systems and applications.
- Motivated to take on new challenges and responsibilities, able to show initiative and adapt to change.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule according to the demands of the business.
Compensation Package:
$80,000 per annum (prorated) wage, plus benefits package, Annual Bonus Program, Seasons Pass and all Mountain Access, Season pass(es) for immediate family, Retail and Food discounts, and a FUN work atmosphere in a unique environment.
