About the Opportunity

The Occupational Therapist plays a vital role in the Nova Scotia Health Authority, working under the supervision of the Manager. This position involves collaborating with clients, caregivers, and family members to facilitate, restore, and/or maintain the patient/client's optimal level of function in areas such as self-care, productivity, and leisure. The Occupational Therapist provides consultation, assessment, treatment, evaluation, and follow-up while working within the hospital, the client's home, and/or their community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish individualized treatment plans and goals in collaboration with clients
  • Manage a busy caseload and use clinical judgment and decision-making skills to prioritize issues on a daily basis
  • Provide education and support to clients, families, and caregivers
  • Function as a member of an occupational therapy clinical team and a multidisciplinary hospital and/or community healthcare team
  • Contribute to the clinical education of OT students and related health disciplines
About You

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Occupational Therapist to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Bachelor of Science or equivalent in Occupational Therapy
  • Licensure with the provincial regulatory body, the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia
  • BLS-C certification
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to facilitate education programs and interact positively with patients/clients, families, other healthcare providers, and staff
  • Commitment to promoting a culture of respect that supports safety, ethical practices, cultural awareness, and organizational health
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, while effectively planning, organizing, and supervising
  • Ability to be flexible and adjust to the changing needs of the service and the program/facility
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
Hours and Compensation
  • Permanent, Full-Time position; 75 hours bi-weekly
  • $42.90 Hourly
