Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse, Community Mental Health Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse to join our team in Langley, B.C. as a Community Mental Health Specialist. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with mental health and substance use issues.
Key Responsibilities- Client Care and Support
- Provide comprehensive treatment and care management services to individuals with mental health and substance use issues.
- Conduct mental health assessments, develop and implement individualized care plans, and monitor client progress.
- Collaborate with interprofessional care teams to ensure seamless care coordination and delivery.
- Community Outreach and Engagement
- Establish and maintain relationships with community agencies, service providers, and stakeholders to promote access to mental health and substance use services.
- Develop and implement outreach programs to engage hard-to-reach populations and promote community-based care.
- Education and Training
- Provide education and training to clients, families, and caregivers on mental health and substance use issues, treatment options, and self-management strategies.
- Develop and deliver educational programs for healthcare professionals and community agencies on mental health and substance use best practices.
- Collaboration and Communication
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, community agencies, and stakeholders to ensure comprehensive care coordination and delivery.
- Communicate effectively with clients, families, and caregivers to ensure understanding of treatment plans, progress, and outcomes.
- Education and Experience
- Graduation from an approved School of Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing.
- Two (2) years recent related experience providing treatment services to individuals with mental health and/or concurrent disorders.
- Skills and Abilities
- Ability to complete initial and ongoing mental health and substance use client assessments and provide nursing care through appropriate/prescribed technical, therapeutic, safety-type interventions.
- Knowledge of mental illness and substance use treatment, psychopharmacology, and legislation and government policies and procedures related to mental health and substance use practices.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with clients, families/caregivers, the public, medical staff, and members of the interprofessional care team.
