Job Title: Surface Water Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Surface Water Specialist to join our team at the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks. As a Surface Water Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting regional water programs and providing expertise on surface water quality and/or quantity.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide expertise on surface water quality and/or quantity in support of regional water programs
  • Make recommendations to protect, conserve, and manage surface water resources
  • Act as a regional specialist on compliance issues
  • Evaluate hydrological and ecological impacts of proposed and existing activities
  • Investigate and address surface water discharges and assess the impact of contaminated sites and landfills
Requirements:
  • Valid Ontario Class G driver's license to conduct field studies
  • Degree with specialization in disciplines such as biology, hydrology, chemistry, or water resources
  • Experience in applying the principles of surface water management, limnology, and water quality assessment techniques
  • Familiarity with hydrological, chemical, and/or biological methods and techniques
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and apply applicable environmental protection policies, procedures, and legislation
