Job Title: Automation Specialist Internship

Telesat Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Automation Specialist Internship to join our team. As a key member of our Cloud Development Services team, you will be responsible for delivering cloud development services in an Agile DevOps environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implementing technology and tools for SaaS, IaaS, and on-prem systems to support secure development, testing, and release of internal code.
  • Participating in Agile development teams to deliver end-to-end automation of deployment, monitoring, and infrastructure management in cloud and on-prem environments.
  • Defining and implementing build, deployment, and monitoring standards.
  • Building and deploying security utilities and tools for internal use.
  • Automating DevOps processes, tooling, and test suites as required.
  • Monitoring system operations and troubleshooting to ensure availability, capacity, and optimal performance.
  • Collaborating with the Cyber team to ensure adherence to best practices for code and systems security.
  • Collaborating with the QA and IVV teams to ensure test cases and metrics are automated and provide appropriate metrics and logging.
  • Mentoring and training other staff on complex procedures and items pertaining to DevOps and SRE.
  • Installing and customizing operating systems and tools to support business needs.
  • Incident on-call rotation as required.
Requirements:
  • Diploma or degree in a relevant area of study, preferably Computer Science, with demonstrated operational network-related experience.
  • Industry certifications in Azure, Agile, and/or Security are an asset.
  • In-depth knowledge of Kubernetes deployment and support.
  • Significant experience in automation tooling and deployment of Linux and Microsoft Windows.
  • Experience in performance tuning of Linux kernel, memory, and filesystem parameters.
  • Experience in coding and programming, preferably Python.
  • Experience in deploying environments in Azure.
  • Working technical knowledge of network systems and systems software, protocols, and standards, including Active Directory.
  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Demonstrated experience in applying technical expertise to solve complex problems.
  • Bilingual (English/French) is an asset.
  • Coordination with ServiceDesk, Network & Telecom, and Cyber teams.
Working Conditions:
  • Generally comfortable working conditions in an office-based environment.
  • Moderate visual concentration in use of video display terminal.
  • Participation in group pager rotation for production systems when completed.
  • The successful candidate must be able to work in Canada and obtain clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods program (CGP).
