Job Summary

Propak Systems Ltd. is a leading provider of engineering, fabrication, and construction services for the energy industry. We are seeking a skilled Crane Operator to join our Fabrication Shops in Alberta.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate cranes to lift, move, position, or place equipment and materials.
  • Drive the crane to the job site.
  • Rig the machine up (pin the boom and pendant cables and pull the hoist cable in preparation for operation).
  • Set up the machine for the lift (make it level and stable) using blocking and leveling materials.
  • Operate booms (including telescoping booms and articulating booms possessing live lines) capable of swinging, hoisting, and booming up and down with a lifting capacity of greater than 5 tons and less than 45 tons.
  • Service and operate travelling, fixed, or climbing type hoisting equipment with a vertical mast or tower and a jib.
  • Perform pre-operational inspection, and calculate crane capacities and weight to prepare for rigging and hoisting.
  • Perform routine maintenance work such as cleaning and lubricating cranes.

Requirements:

  • Hold a valid recognized Alberta Journeyperson Trade Certificate, or a recognized trade certificate or equivalency document.
  • Inter-Provincial Red Seal Certificate is preferred.
  • 1-2 years of directly related work experience.
  • As a condition of employment, employees are required upon hire to sign a Drug-Free Workplace Agreement, a Conflict of Interest Agreement, and Confidentiality and Invention Agreement.
  • This position may be required to direct, coach, and mentor apprentices.
