Trail, Canada GFL Environmental Full time

GFL Environmental is seeking a skilled Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team in Trail, BC. As a critical member of our operations, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our trucks and motorized equipment.

As an Equipment Maintenance Specialist, your primary responsibility will be to perform maintenance and repairs on diesel, CNG, gas, and electrically operated trucks, as well as associated heavy-duty equipment. You will utilize various power tools, hand instruments, and cutting-edge equipment to complete daily tasks efficiently.

We offer competitive compensation for this role, with an estimated annual salary range of $60,000-$80,000 based on industry standards and location. Our comprehensive benefits package includes extended health, dental, and vision coverage, RRSP and DPSP options, paid holidays, and 10 days of paid time off per year.

A Day in the Life:

  • Maintenance or repairs of diesel, CNG, gas, and electrically operated trucks as well as associated heavy-duty equipment
  • Using various power tools, hand instruments, and cutting-edge equipment
  • Completing daily reports, work orders, and ordering necessary parts
  • Planning and scheduling repairs in M5 planner and procure parts
  • Assisting in the review of mechanical write-ups and coordinate repair schedule

To excel in this role, you must have:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); technical diploma desired
  • 1+ year experience as a Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic
  • Relevant criteria for safety-sensitive functions according to Company standards
  • Follow detailed instructions, work independently, and maintain accurate records
  • Willingness to operate any vehicle or equipment necessary to perform job
  • Exert physical effort including pushing, pulling, bending, and lifting items up to 100 lbs
  • Use fine motor coordination with arm, hand, finger, and leg dexterity
  • Ability to kneel, crawl, and climb
