Job Summary

destinationone Consulting is seeking a highly skilled Code Enforcement Officer to join our team. As a Code Enforcement Officer, you will play a crucial role in enforcing local codes and regulations related to property maintenance, land use, and zoning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect Properties: Conduct thorough inspections of properties and sites to ensure compliance with local building codes, zoning regulations, and property maintenance standards.
  • Investigate Complaints: Investigate complaints and reports of code violations, documenting findings and taking appropriate enforcement actions.
  • Issue Citations: Issue citations and notices of violation to property owners and tenants, outlining required corrective measures and deadlines.
  • Conduct Follow-up Inspections: Conduct follow-up inspections to ensure compliance with correction orders and resolve outstanding issues.
  • Prepare Reports: Prepare detailed reports and documentation related to inspections, violations, and enforcement actions.
  • Educate the Public: Educate the public and property owners about code requirements, enforcement procedures, and the appeals process.
  • Collaborate with Municipal Departments: Collaborate with other municipal departments, agencies, and community organizations to address and resolve code enforcement issues.
  • Stay Updated on Codes and Regulations: Stay updated on changes to codes, regulations, and industry best practices to ensure accurate and effective enforcement.
Requirements
  • Relevant Certification or Diploma: Relevant certification or diploma in Code Enforcement, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Previous Experience: Previous experience in code enforcement, property management, or a similar role, with a strong understanding of local codes and regulations.
  • Excellent Observational and Analytical Skills: Excellent observational and analytical skills for identifying and documenting code violations.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Strong communication skills for interacting with property owners, tenants, and municipal officials.
  • Ability to Manage Multiple Cases: Ability to manage multiple cases and maintain accurate records in a detailed and organized manner.
  • Familiarity with Legal Procedures: Familiarity with legal procedures and enforcement actions related to code violations.
