As a Tobacco, Smoking & Vaping Investigator with Alberta Health Services, you will play a vital role in enforcing the Alberta Tobacco, Smoking and Vaping Reduction Act. This position involves responding to public complaints, conducting inspections, and providing education to retailers on tobacco and vaping regulations.

You will be responsible for maintaining accurate records, documenting all enforcement activities, and preparing reports for submission to senior management. Your duties will also include test shopping events, handling evidence, and preparing court documentation. Additionally, you will work collaboratively with internal stakeholders, law enforcement partners, and municipalities to achieve compliance with legislation.

To be successful in this role, you must possess a minimum of 2 years of completed post-secondary diploma in law enforcement, criminal justice or a related field. Alternatively, you can have relevant experience as a Police Officer, Alberta Peace Officer, or equivalent. You must qualify for and maintain appointment as an Alberta Peace Officer Level 2 in accordance with the Public Security Peace Officer Program.

This position requires a strong ability to interpret legislation, demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, and foster effective working relationships with various stakeholders. Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 is also essential. As a member of our team, you will have access to training opportunities, including Alberta Justice and Solicitor General Training for Alberta Peace Officers or Community Peace Officers Induction.
