We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Developer to join our team at Royal Bank of Canada. As a key member of our Data Strategy Team, you will play a critical role in driving the technical design and development of cross-functional, multi-platform application systems.

As a Lead Developer, you will have the opportunity to work with a talented team of developers, designers, and product managers to design, develop, and deploy innovative solutions that meet the needs of our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the technical design and development of cross-functional, multi-platform application systems
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and develop solutions that meet those needs
  • Design, develop, and deploy high-quality software applications that meet the needs of our clients
  • Lead and mentor junior developers to ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to succeed
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and trends in software development and apply that knowledge to improve our solutions

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • 7+ years of experience in a similar role
  • Advanced programming skills in Python, Java, and Scala
  • Shell scripting skills for automating administrative tasks and data processes
  • Deep understanding of relational and non-relational databases

Preferred Experience:

  • Prior experience with data lineage and governance platforms such as Apache Atlas, Informatica, Collibra, Talend, Alation, and other data lineage and governance platforms
  • Expertise in ETL tools such as Informatica, Talend, Microsoft SSIS, and Apache NiFi
  • Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop and Apache Spark
  • Managing metadata repositories and implementing metadata standards and frameworks
