Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Hardware Designer to join our team. In this role, you will assist in the design of new or revised products, equipment, and installations, utilizing established engineering principles to meet customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop electrical hardware for new or revised products, equipment, and installations
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure design meets customer and railway requirements
  • Develop junior team members by providing guidance and support as needed
  • Effectively communicate design options and trade-offs to stakeholders
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines
  • Occasional travel may be required to customer sites, up to three times per year

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent combination of diplomas and work experience
  • Minimum of 6 years' experience in the electrical engineering industry, including cabling, grounding techniques, and surge protection
  • Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles, including power circuits design and electronic circuits
  • Experience with CAD systems, multi-meters, oscilloscopes, and protocol analyzers
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to follow directions and work instructions, using good judgment in the performance of assigned work

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Over 10 years of experience in the railway signalling industry
  • Experience formulating or contributing to the development of new designs
  • Devising and running tests to verify functionality, and identifying and solving problems
  • Experience reviewing applicable specifications, standards, rules, etc., and ensuring appropriate actions have been taken
  • Implementing designs using good design practice and applicable standards and guidelines
  • Proficiency with current technology and design tools

Salary Estimate: $120,000 - $180,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications
