Job Summary

The Peel District School Board is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Facilities Operations Manager to join our team. As a key member of our Facilities and Environmental Support Services department, you will be responsible for managing custodial staff and facilities services within an assigned area.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Providing daily supervision and direction to custodians and school attendants
  • Managing site operations for 15 to 25 locations, including cleaning, maintenance, and security
  • Managing an annual budget and providing facilities-related contracted services
  • Administering collective agreements and identifying, prioritizing, and administering building renewal projects
  • Participating in the planning, scheduling, and monitoring of new construction and additions
  • Training custodial staff in facilities/building operations and maintenance, Health and Safety, WHMIS, asbestos, ladders/lifts, ground care, and equipment
  • Providing on-call support for after-hours emergencies and assisting with weekend emergencies
  • Hiring new staff and participating in the promotion of existing staff

Qualifications include a degree or diploma in Business Administration or a related field, or equivalent education and experience. Preference will be given to applicants with a certification in Facilities Management or progressing towards completion. A minimum of five years' experience providing custodial services in progressively responsible positions and two years' supervisory experience is required.

The successful candidate will have a thorough working knowledge of custodial and maintenance processes, Board policies and procedures, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Employment Standards Act, budgets, collective agreements, and ISO standards. Excellent technical, presentation, and communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as computer literacy, are essential. Demonstrated supervisory and leadership experience, coordination, project management, initiative, decision-making, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills are also required.
