Plan Group is a leading provider of comprehensive construction services in Canada, with a strong presence in Ontario, Quebec, and Western Canada. We are currently seeking an experienced Electrical Design Manager to join our Integrated Pursuits team, focusing on major construction projects.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years of experience in the Electrical Construction industry, with a strong background in design build/p3 healthcare projects. A professional engineer license in Ontario or BC, or Ingénieur license in Québec, would be considered an asset.

This role requires excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to manage design resources, direct major decisions with consulting firms, and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders. The successful candidate will also have strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a strong sense of urgency and the ability to prioritize tasks.

Key responsibilities include:


  • Leading alternate financing & procurement (AFP) integrated pursuits with an electrical focus.
  • Reading and clearly understanding issued statements of requirements, reviewing job specifications and drawings to develop competitive submissions.
  • Communicating effectively with stakeholders, clients, and partners.
  • Collaborating within an integrated multi-discipline team to optimize efficiency and pricing.
  • Collaborating with design teams to ensure efficient and cost-effective project designs.
  • Managing pursuit schedules and meeting deadlines.
  • Collaborating with consultant partners on system layouts and decision-making for estimates.
  • Understanding the impact of building operations design decisions.
  • Producing accurate quotations through material and labour take-off.
  • Coordinating with sub-contractors and suppliers for pricing.
  • Managing project tasks within time and budget constraints.
  • Coordinating system installations with other design disciplines.
  • Researching and implementing changes to increase efficiency and profitability.
  • Staying updated on current industry techniques, codes, and standards.
  • Participating in bid review and handover meetings.
  • Maintaining and developing new business opportunities.
  • Providing mentorship and technical support to junior design staff.
