Equipment Operator II

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Equipment Operator II to join our Roads & Sidewalks Division of the Public Works and Engineering Department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for operating heavy equipment, including road graders and excavators, to maintain and repair our city's infrastructure.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate road graders and excavators to maintain gravel road surfaces and aid in repairs of waterlines and other excavations.
  • Plough ice and snow during winter months and service equipment as required.
  • Operate other equipment, including loaders, dozers, street sweepers, and vactor trucks.
  • Perform manual duties related to Roads & Sidewalks operations and construction.
  • Work shift work and a rotating standby schedule.

Requirements:

  • Valid Class I Driver's Licence with air brake endorsement and manual transmission.
  • At least two years of equipment operation experience.
  • Preference will be given to applicants with a Journeyman Certificate in Heavy Equipment Operation.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate a grader and excavator on municipal streets.
