Platform Team Lead

Our client, a leading software company in downtown Toronto, is seeking a seasoned Team Lead to spearhead the development of their platform. As a key member of the technical leadership team, you will be responsible for driving the design, implementation, and delivery of the platform, working closely with technical leaders, scrum masters, and product managers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead two five-person development teams in close collaboration with technical leaders, scrum masters, and product managers.
  • Work closely with fellow team leads, principal engineers, the Director of Software Engineering, and the CTO to define the company's technical direction.
  • 20% of your time spent hands-on-keyboard writing code.

Requirements:

  • At least 3 years of experience managing and leading a software development team, ideally in an Agile environment.
  • Comfortable coding in your high-level language of choice – Python or Java preferred.
  • Experience with development in presentation, business logic, and database tiers.
  • SQL database development experience is a must and NoSQL highly desirable.
  • Understanding of and experience using or building self-service RESTful APIs.
  • Experience with and belief in automated testing and continuous integration.
  • Nice to have: experience building or using transactional e-commerce platforms.
  • Very strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent.
