Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Freight Driver to join our team at Hefty Freight. As a key member of our operations, you will be responsible for transporting goods and materials safely and efficiently across the country.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy, ensuring timely delivery of cargo while maintaining high standards of safety and efficiency.
  • Load and unload goods with precision and care, adhering to company protocols and regulations.
  • Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks, utilizing your expertise in navigating diverse road conditions and weather scenarios.
  • Conduct regular vehicle inspections to ensure all equipment is in good working order, including tires, lights, brakes, cold storage, and other essential systems.
  • Perform pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections, overseeing every aspect of the vehicle to guarantee compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Receive and relay information to central dispatch, communicating effectively with colleagues and management to optimize logistics and operations.
  • Record critical data, including cargo information, hours of service, distance traveled, and fuel consumption, using a driver logbook to track vital statistics.
Credentials and Requirements:
  • AZ class license: A valid and current AZ class license is required for this position.
  • Air Brakes Endorsement: Possess a valid Air Brakes Endorsement for safe operation of heavy-duty vehicles.
  • Driver's License (Class 1 or A): Hold a valid Class 1 or A driver's license for unrestricted access to highways.
Experience and Specialization:
  • Documentation Knowledge: Familiarity with documentation procedures, including bill of lading, driver logbook, inspection reports, trans-border documentation, and trip reports.
  • Type of Trucking and Equipment: Experience with logging, highway, refrigerated, and tractor-trailer operations is highly desirable.
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities:
  • Security Clearance: Basic security clearance is required for this position.
  • Driving Record Check: A clean driving record and abstract check will be performed on successful candidates.

In return for your skills and experience, we offer an estimated salary of $60,000 to $80,000 per year, depending on qualifications and performance. This compensation package also includes comprehensive benefits, opportunities for professional growth, and a supportive work environment.
