P&C Project Engineer
Job Summary:Matchbox Consulting Group is seeking a skilled P&C Project Engineer to work on a 1-year contract for one of BC's largest utility and energy companies. This opportunity has a high possibility of extension.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop safe engineering solutions by using initiative and judgment to perform tasks including design development, problem analysis, and interpretation of engineering specifications for complex projects and operations.
- Achieve safety, cost, quality, and time objectives by proposing plan modifications, estimating costs, recommending contractor payments, and preparing progress reports while coordinating work schedules.
- Address technical and unique design and field engineering issues by conducting independent studies, applying judgment in information selection, and recommending safe engineering designs for successful project completion.
- Contribute to the engineering practice by performing independent studies, developing technical standards, exercising judgment in information interpretation, and providing guidance to enhance the capabilities of engineering professionals.
- Deliver exceptional customer service by engaging with stakeholders, defining engineering service scopes, establishing design criteria, approving technical documentation, and monitoring project progress against standards to ensure safety, quality, budget adherence, and timely completion.
- Make complex technical decisions and recommendations regarding design bases and criteria, and manage engineering resources to support significant assignments within the engineering divisions.
Must haves:
- P&C experience.
- A minimum ten (10) years of experience in a relevant engineering field or equivalent.
- A minimum four (4) years of working experience in leading or coordinating multi-discipline design teams.
- Good working experience with typical protection and control components including: Protection relays, control and automation devices, RTU, SCADA, RAS, and other tele protection devices.
- Professional Engineer registered with EGBC.
- Good working knowledge on NERC requirement.
- Solid electric utility engineering background with the ability to think from a transmission system and operations perspective as well as an ability to understand the interactions and priorities of multi-discipline projects.
- Good working knowledge of project management principles and roles.
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills as well as interpersonal, influencing, and conflict resolution skills.
Nice to have:
- Good working knowledge of design, substations, protection, control, and telecom systems is an asset.
