Job Title: Business Intelligence Developer

Job Summary:

The City of Victoria BC is seeking a highly skilled Business Intelligence Developer to join our Information Technology Team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining business intelligence tools and processes that enhance and support sound enterprise data analytics and architecture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with project teams and business units to ensure effective implementation of BI tools and processes.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and guidance in the development and maintenance of a corporate data framework and centre of excellence.
  • Design, develop, and maintain data models to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and reliability for reporting and analysis purposes.
  • Design procedures and structures to effectively extract, transform, load, and clean data from diverse sources.
  • Adhere to data governance policies and security protocols, maintaining data privacy and compliance with established requirements.
  • Liaise with various City departments to translate their data requirements into actionable solutions that align with strategic goals.
  • Analyze extensive datasets to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies, providing valuable insights for decision-makers.
  • Generate and customize intuitive reports, dashboards, and visualizations tailored to specific business needs and objectives using business intelligence tools such as Power BI.
  • Train and support business champions ensuring best practices are used and corporate standards are adhered to.
  • Conduct ad hoc analyses as needed to provide timely insights and support strategic initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Statistics, or Engineering.
  • 5 years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with MS SQL Server and Azure SQL database operations and optimization.

Working Conditions:

This is a CUPE Local 50 Position. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 35 hour work week. The hourly rate is $58.40 per hour, Pay Grade 18 (under review). The job code is #4460.
