Job Title: Communications Coordinator

Oshawa Power & Utilities Corporation is seeking a skilled Communications Coordinator to support the development and delivery of communications content for various channels, ensuring alignment with the company's communications and marketing strategies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate the production of materials for public awareness campaigns, including brochures, posters, and advertisements.
  • Assist management in developing work back schedules as required.
  • Support internal communications and engagement by maintaining internal tools and partnering with the People and Culture department for organizational development events and social activities.
  • Obtain content, write text, prepare mock layouts, and coordinate graphic and print completion.
  • Complete purchase orders for management authorization for design work and print production.
  • Participate in and assist with organizing events and activities, such as trade shows and community events, and coordinate the development and production of related promotional materials.
  • Maintain media and stakeholder contact lists.
  • Provide backup support to the Corporate Communications Specialist.
Requirements:
  • Post-secondary education in Communications or Public Relations.
  • Minimum of 2 years of working experience in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Quick learner to understand the corporate environment and industry.
  • Knowledge of copywriting, digital and print communications, website design, online and email marketing, and graphic design principles.
  • Ability to write effectively in plain language for print, web, video, and e-newsletters.
  • Analytical and organizational skills to edit and proofread own and others' work.
  • Communication skills to work with and facilitate communications messaging with program partners and other staff.
  • Computer skills with ability to use software such as Microsoft Office, desktop publishing software, social media/web-based communication tools, and website management software.
