Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Operations Manager to join our team at Shermco. As an Electrical Operations Manager, you will be responsible for directing and supervising utility and construction-focused scopes, primarily focused on our SaskPower account.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership
    • Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to crew leaders, site crews, and other staff to ensure daily objectives are achieved.
    • Promote an inclusive, positive, and respectful work environment and implement an open-door policy to allow staff to bring concerns forward.
    • Build and promote a team-oriented environment, foster effective communication, and encourage continuous improvement.
    • Develop a culture of safety and ensure all staff view safety as a behavior and a mindset.
    • Demonstrate leadership skills and continually develop competencies as a leader within the organization.
    • Ensure all staff are aware of and abide by company policies, procedures, and guidelines.
    • Promote leadership and positivity, highlighting important values such as Shermco's Core Principles, Cardinal Rules, and company direction and initiatives.
  • Construction Supervision
    • Direct the work and overall supervision of assigned scopes and site crews, ensuring all required procedures and processes are adhered to.
    • Coordinate activities in accordance with client and project schedules, shifting priorities as dictated by project and client requirements.
    • Work closely with the Engineer/Project Manager and Electrical Services Manager to ensure crews and client teams meet productivity and timeline requirements.
    • Supervise, coordinate, and schedule daily activities of assigned crew(s) and crew leaders to complete work scopes safely and on time.
    • Oversee site-specific and project procurement, ensuring adequate sub-contractor management is in place.
    • Distribute work packages to crew leaders for clear direction on work to be performed.
    • Attend site-specific, scope-specific, and client meetings as required and directed.
  • Qualifications
    • Registered Red Seal Interprovincial Electrical Journeyman Ticket
    • 7+ years industrial experience
    • 3+ years supervision experience
    • SaskPower construction experience preferred
    • Substation and/or High Voltage apparatus construction preferred
    • Thorough understanding of CEC
    • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings
    • Sound knowledge and understanding of materials and techniques electrical construction and maintenance
    • Possess strong Supervision and Leadership qualities
    • Ability to accurately analyze, assess, and mitigate safety risks and concerns
    • Knowledge and familiarity of other trades' and departments work requirements
    • Ability to complete work-related documents accurately and efficiently
    • Industrial facility safe work qualifications
    • Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently
    • Must have a valid driver's license and able to maintain a clean abstract
    • Must be available to work out-of-town and regular overnight travel
  • Other Requirements
    • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, stand for extended periods, drive regularly, with or without reasonable accommodations
    • Should be able to pass a fit for duty physical exam when required
