About the Role

Taseko Mines Limited is seeking a highly skilled Senior Buyer, Supply Chain to join our team at the Gibraltar Mine in McLeese Lake, BC.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the procurement process for major purchases and services, ensuring transparency and compliance with company policies and standards.
  • Manage the request for proposal process, including planning, preparation, and evaluation of commercial proposals.
  • Assess business risk and make recommendations to mitigate exposure to the organization.
  • Present alternatives and possible solutions to address and resolve current or potential issues that may impact stakeholders.
  • Manage and close out contracts when necessary.

Requirements

  • Advance knowledge in complex procurement and tendering processes.
  • Highly effective skills in organization, planning, and communication, and the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Proactively demonstrates initiative, accountability, and diligence.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills and the ability to multitask on several projects simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Advance knowledge and understanding of contracts lifecycle management.
  • Experience in a mining or industrial construction environment is considered an asset.
  • Experience and working knowledge in a union environment would be advantageous.

Education

  • A diploma or business-related bachelor's degree.
  • 3 to 5 years of sourcing, bid evaluation, selection, negotiation, and execution of various types of purchase agreements, preferably in the mining industry.
  • SCMP designation or equivalent preferred.
  • Intermediate excel skills.
