We are seeking a Family Medicine Physician to join our team at Nova Scotia Health Authority. This is a locum opportunity that offers a chance to work in a supportive group of family doctors in a beautiful setting.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a collaborative practice, sharing an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and discussing cases with colleagues. Our regional hospital is located across the street, and we have ready access to lab, radiology, and specialist colleagues.
Funding for this opportunity is provided through the rural locum program, with a guaranteed daily rate and remuneration for travel. The minimum guaranteed daily rate is $800 per day, with a $175 per diem daily rate.
We are a community that is enthusiastic and eager to make new physicians feel welcome. We can assist in finding accommodations if needed.
Responsibilities- Examine patients and take their histories, order diagnostic tests and laboratory procedures; advise patients on healthcare, health promotion, and disease prevention.
- Consultation and referral to other medical practitioners.
- Act as a patient's advocate.
- Prescribe and administer medications and treatments, inoculations, and vaccinations.
- Report births, deaths, contagious, and other diseases as per Nova Scotia Public Health requirements.
- Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS).
- Eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC).
- Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) membership.
