Job Summary

The Chelsea Hotel, Toronto is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Recreation Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our Recreation department, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the Family Fun Zone, while providing exceptional facilities for our guests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Recreation Manager to supervise the day-to-day operations of the Family Fun Zone.
  • Assist in maintaining all areas of the Recreation department, ensuring that guest service is a top priority.
  • Develop and implement Recreation Event & Calendar planning, ensuring seamless execution.
  • Provide lateral service throughout all Recreation Areas, ensuring a positive guest experience.
  • Promote and participate in Comment Card Programs, driving department success.
  • Develop and maintain a safe, clean, and enjoyable environment for guests and colleagues.
  • Ensure all equipment and facilities are in excellent operating condition through daily inspections.
  • Comply with provincial guidelines (Health Department and TSSA) for all areas of the Family Fun Zone & Deck 27.
  • Update services offered through the Recreation Department to ensure alignment with guest needs.
  • Conduct in-stock inventories on a weekly basis, proactively ordering supplies & products.
  • Ensure each area is staffed according to operational needs, coordinating break times and coverage.
  • Lead and direct the Family Fun Zone team, taking ownership of internal conflicts and resolving situations.
  • Monitor colleague performance, providing recognition or corrective action as needed.
  • Prepare and present annual performance reviews to Recreation colleagues.
  • Hold weekly meetings with the Recreation Manager to discuss operations, concerns, and ideas.
  • Conduct shift briefings with staff on a daily basis, delegating tasks and ensuring follow-up.
  • Develop functional relationships with Laundry, Maintenance, Housekeeping, Human Resources, Purchasing, and Marketing Departments.
  • Report and follow up on maintenance issues with the Engineering Department daily.
  • Perform on-the-job individual and team training as needed, ensuring colleagues have adequate product, service, and cleaning knowledge.
Requirements
  • Previous experience in hotels, child care, and/or pool facilities.
  • Previous management or supervisory experience is an asset.
  • High School graduate.
  • Post-secondary education in a related field is an asset.
  • Valid CPR/1st Aid certification is mandatory.
  • NLS certification is a definite asset.
  • Proficient in English, with a second language an asset.
  • Able to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Able to sit on the floor, kneel, and perform other activities associated with child care and entertainment.
  • Flexibility in regards to shifts/schedules.
  • Must successfully complete a background check.
