Job Description
This 13-week temporary full-time position is designed for students currently attending and returning to a post-secondary undergraduate or graduate degree program in September. You will gain practical experience in important aspects of archival work through processing, preserving, and making accessible archival records under the supervision of the Supervising Archivist.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Physically arrange and describe bodies of records
  • Assist with conservation efforts
  • Contribute to digitization projects
  • Provide support for reference services

Project 1: Arrangement and Description
You will work on completing the arrangement, processing, and description of the 60cm accession A99-110 Alma Webster/Edmonton Hard of Hearing Association for Adults. This involves removing duplicates, rehousing records in acid-free file folders, creating a file list, and describing the records. The final result will be a completed fonds with a finding aid available on our Access to Memory Database.

Project 2: Digitization
You will assist with digitizing a selection of photographs from the Cantelon Photography Studio using the City of Edmonton's photograph scanners. You will create preservation TIFF copies and access copy JPEGs, add metadata to the images, and use Adobe Photoshop to create contact sheet albums making images accessible on our Access to Memory (AtoM) database.

Required Skills and Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a post-secondary undergraduate or graduate degree program
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Familiarity with archival concepts and practices
- Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
