About the Role

Dyno Nobel is a global leader in the commercial explosives industry, providing innovative blasting solutions and quality explosives products throughout North America, Australia, and selected customers in the Asia Pacific.

We are seeking a professional from a mining industry background to join our team as a Regional Area Manager - Explosives Supply and Operations. This role will be based in the Labrador City/Wabush (NL) geographical area and will be responsible for delivering sustainable revenue by working closely with site operations and crews.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage overall IOC site contract compliance, including Health and Safety, Operations, and Commercial, while working closely with the site operations team to ensure continuity of supply.
  • Secure growth opportunities in mining, quarry, and construction.
  • Manage a team of 20+ employees, responsible for safety, production, quality, and budgets for their area of mine operations.
  • Approve plans, delegate work to their teams, oversee progress, solve problems, and take corrective action when required.
  • Organize budgets and monitor spending.
  • Prepare reports and briefs on production, safety, progress on projects, and more.
  • Lead and participate in meetings and briefings.
  • Oversee the development of supervisors, providing support and guidance.
  • Remain involved with union representatives and the HR department to avoid and resolve personnel issues and grievances.
Requirements
  • Engineering degree in mining, civil, or geological, or a college or technical degree combined with relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of mining, drilling, and blasting processes, as well as explosives products.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, being autonomous and self-sufficient.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in a related industry, including team supervision of local crews and client support.
  • Strong track record of building positive relationships with coworkers, team members, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Good working knowledge of commonly used business IT technologies.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of OH&S Act and Health, Safety, and Environment management systems.
  • Knowledge of cash flow modeling techniques and mineral economics is an asset.
