About the Role

The Family Support Counsellor will be responsible for delivering high-quality family support services to children and families in the care of Wood’s Homes. This includes in-home support, school liaison, and community coordination as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Complete program-related assessments and establish goals and areas of focus with families.
  2. Advocate for families and support the development of a network of resources with the community and involved professionals.
  3. Provide parent skills training and supportive individual and family counselling.
  4. Intervene directly in crisis situations and provide follow-up care as required.
  5. Participate in weekly supervision, case reviews, clinical rounds, and team meetings.
  6. Report workplace hazards and unsafe conditions to their direct supervisor.

Requirements

  • Degree in one of the Human Sciences, Childcare, or a related field.
  • Minimum two to four years' experience working with infants, children, and/or adolescents, and families.
  • Familiarity with family and in-home support is preferred.
  • Case management experience is also preferred.
