Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Communications Strategist to join our team in Toronto. As a key member of our communications function, you will play a critical role in developing and executing strategic communications plans that drive business results.

About the Role

This is an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned communications professional to leverage their expertise and experience to drive business growth and reputation management for a leading global business law firm. Reporting to the Chief Marketing and Communications Officer (CMO), you will lead the development of a progressive, forward-leaning communications strategy that delivers bold advancement of our brand across key internal and external stakeholders.

You will be responsible for providing editorial direction and oversight for the communications and media relations programs, including establishing proper processes and cadence to communications across multiple channels (internal and external). This includes leading a team of 6 direct reports and defining and driving a comprehensive multi-year communications strategy that authentically and consistently tells our Canada story and highlights all that is special about and differentiates us.

Your Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of media and communications professionals, defining and driving a comprehensive multi-year communications strategy
  • Develop and execute strategic communications plans that drive business results, leveraging top-tier media and engaging employees
  • Provide strategic counsel regarding reputational opportunities and threats, staying abreast of current market trends and storylines
  • Evaluate, develop, and lead a high-performing national Communications team, focusing on effective communication and stakeholder engagement
  • Develop and implement a social media strategy that promotes our brand and strategy in the market with our clients and people - current, future (recruits) and past (alumni)
  • Drive quantifiable impact of communications, developing measurement and reporting processes to assess effectiveness on a regular basis
About You

We are looking for a seasoned communications professional with 15+ years of relevant experience, including broad-based experience in executive and corporate communications and public relations, preferably at a leadership level. Prior experience working in a professional services firm is a definite asset. Successful candidates must be fluent in both English and French.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on strategic messaging experience, writing and presentation skills, a proven track record in advising and counselling senior leadership, and a high value on diversity and inclusion. Demonstrated success developing and leading high-impact communications strategies is essential, as well as a strong ability to understand how to deliver integrated messages to a wide variety of audiences with varying levels of knowledge about our firm.

What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary range of $140,000 - $180,000 per year, commensurate with experience, plus benefits, including a comprehensive health and dental plan, retirement savings plan, and generous paid time off.
