Job Description

Wealthsimple is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Associate, Investment Operations Specialist to join our Corporate Actions team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for processing corporate actions and dividends on clients' accounts, working directly with motivated Operations Associates to ensure the accuracy of our records, and taking ownership of critical tasks to reduce risk.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process corporate actions and dividends on clients' accounts with high accuracy and efficiency.
  • Work closely with Operations Associates to ensure the accuracy of our records and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Take ownership of critical tasks, escalating to the trade desk, securities lending teams, management, and other teams as necessary to reduce risk.
  • Analyze the impact and changes required to the dividends processes for new product launches.
  • Develop and maintain subject matter expertise on tax issues related to dividends.
  • Troubleshoot, manage, and proactively resolve reconciliation differences.
  • Use data to identify inefficiencies and propose solutions to improve back-office operations.
Requirements:
  • 2+ years of experience working at a broker-dealer handling back-office dividend payments (IIROC-regulated dealer is preferred).
  • Experience working with CDS and DTCC.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Completed or pursuing industry courses (CSC, DFOL, etc.).
  • Experience with programming, especially SQL (a plus).
  • Organized with strong attention to detail, comfortable working with large datasets, and able to meet tight deadlines.
  • Great people skills and a positive attitude, with the ability to work in a highly collaborative environment.
  • Naturally curious, with a desire to figure out what's going on when something seems off.
  • Passionate about technology, specifically fintech.
