Job Title: Maintenance/ Controls Leader

Job Summary:

The Maintenance/ Controls Leader will be primarily responsible for the support, troubleshooting, maintenance, and integration of automated manufacturing process control systems at the Carlisle Companies Inc. manufacturing facility. This position will provide electrical, controls, and mechanical expertise to assist plant maintenance, production/operations, EH&S, and management personnel in identifying and solving technical issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with existing process equipment and control systems.
  • Provide training and technical assistance to plant-level Maintenance, Production/Operations, EH&S, and management personnel.
  • Project management that includes scope development, funding requests, and execution.
  • Design using the latest hardware and software components, design machine control systems to maximize equipment productivity and assure all code requirements and safety standards are strictly met.
  • Assist plant with the development of goals, objectives, and schedules for potential projects/upgrades.
  • Assist CWT engineering with selection, integration, and installation, and start-up of process automation equipment. Including the standardization of automation equipment across applications as applicable.

Requirements:

  • Proficient in Siemens software and hardware, Rockwell Automation software and hardware.
  • Proficient in general industrial controls, manufacturing processes.
  • Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
  • Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs).
  • Industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Profibus, Profinet).
  • BASIC understanding of open/closed control loops (PIDs).
  • Understanding of electrical wiring principles per Canadian standards.
  • Data Historian development.
  • BASIC understanding of low-voltage power distribution.
  • Software/Data communication protocols (OPC-UA/OPC-DA).
  • BASIC understanding of AutoCAD.
  • Ability to stay abreast of new development in controls/technology.

Work Environment:

The basic work environment is a combination of office and within the manufacturing facility with a very little amount travel (although more travel may be required on occasion). The atmosphere is fast-paced and occasionally becomes stressful with multiple projects being worked on at the same time, and dealing with plant breakdowns.

Physical Demands:

  • Walking across plant to observe manufacturing process and on catwalks to observe equipment function, and assisting with installing, repairing equipment.
  • Climbing stairs and ladders to access equipment and roofs.
  • Stooping - equipment observation, assisting with installing, repairing equipment.
  • Kneeling - production observation, assisting with installing, repairing equipment.
  • Standing - Occasionally for extended periods to observe process.
  • Lifting – Up to 50 lbs.
  • Sitting - Office work, reports, computer.

Education:

  • Licensed Electrician/Millwright and or BA in electrical engineering or controls.
  • Equivalency – Five years of direct practical experience in the industrial maintenance controls/automation industry.

Experience:

  • Minimum of five years at an industrial/manufacturing facility in a maintenance, automation, and controls capacity.
