Job Summary

Lumentum is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Optical Component Quality Assurance Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our quality assurance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of our custom optical components.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supplier Quality Engineering: Collaborate with Supply Chain, Quality Assurance, and Research and Development teams to advise and approve specifications of custom optical components for new products based on supplier process capabilities, Design for Manufacturability (DFM), and Design for Manufacturability and Engineering Analysis (DFMEA).
  • Process Improvement: Drive proactive engagement to build predictability and end-to-end process visibility with suppliers, and plan First Article Inspections (FAIs) as needed.
  • Supplier Management: Analyze alternative suppliers as needed and ensure their suitability against capability, specifications, and reliability, and engage with suppliers and Research and Development teams to assess the process capability of suppliers.
  • Change Management: Manage Supplier Product Change Notifications by analyzing the risks of such changes and advising Research and Development and Operations teams through a product-specific Change Control Board.
  • Problem Solving: Work with cross-functional and cross-regional resources to drive proactive engagement with suppliers, build predictability, support component-related issues, and customer returns, initiate supplier failure analysis, and drive corrective and preventative activities.
Requirements
  • Experience: Supplier management experience coupled with optical component design experience.
  • Education: Master's degree in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related field.
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of Active Optics, Passive Optics, Fiber, and Optical Interconnects design and application, strong knowledge of problem-solving techniques, excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, and experience applying PPAP methodologies (Automotive quality management experience is a plus).
