Early Childhood Education Program Lead

This is a key role in the City of Port Coquitlam's recreation services, involving program planning, leading, and implementing the Licensed Preschool program for children aged 2.5 to 5 years. The successful candidate will have a one-year certificate in Early Childhood Education and three years of experience in leading a preschool program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, lead, and implement the Licensed Preschool program, ensuring safe, healthy, and enjoyable care for children.
  • Supervise and lead the planning and organization of activities for preschool children, promoting their intellectual, physical, and emotional growth in a play-based learning environment.
  • Implement Positive Behaviour Support strategies and promote social experiences, respect for oneself, others, and the environment.
  • Enhance creative ideas in program areas, including individual and team sports, dramatic play, music appreciation, arts and crafts, science, and nature.
  • Ensure toys and equipment are maintained to safety and health standards and adhere to Fraser Health Child Care Licensing Regulations.
  • Maintain communication with Recreation Specialist, Supervisors, and other department staff to ensure smooth program operation.

Requirements:

  • Completion of a one-year certificate program in Early Childhood Education.
  • Three years of related experience in leading a preschool program or a combination of training and experience.
