Snow Operations Supervisor

The Snow Operations Supervisor will oversee winter operations by planning, organizing, and controlling projects; conducting quality inspections; supervising sub-contractors and staff. This role reports to the Patrol Supervisor and Operations manager in their absence and is responsible for supervising crew members in completing projects, ensuring safety, and timely completion of tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Create a safe working environment by adhering to company protocols and industry standards.
- Follow and comprehend supervisor's instructions while providing effective supervision to the crew.
- Maintain adherence to the outlined weekly work plan for themselves and work crews.
- Accurately maintain payroll records for workers and verify them periodically.
- Contribute to creating and verifying accurate Winter Operations Records.
- Maintain open communication with patrollers and supervisors regarding job status and current assigned responsibilities.
- Ensure a clean jobsite free of tripping hazards and unnecessary obstacles.
- Participate in the Performance and Development Review process, aligning performance with company pillars.
- Perform all work activities upholding company values and meeting client outcome targets.
- Contribute to a diverse, inclusive, and fair work environment, free from discrimination, bullying, and harassment.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures in all duties.
- Conduct visual inspections on culverts, fencing, bridges, and other infrastructure as needed.
- Perform additional duties as requested by Operations Manager and/or Project Manager, Patrol Supervisor, and/or Winter Patroller.
- Avoid legal challenges by complying with Canadian and Provincial legal requirements.
Requirements
- Operate company tools and equipment proficiently.
- Perform basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Be fluent in reading, speaking, and writing English.
- Demonstrate teamwork and possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Be highly organized and detail-oriented.
- Have proficient computer skills, including data entry and day-to-day submissions on time.
Education and Experience
- Hold a High School Diploma or GED.
- Prior experience as a Crew Supervisor in related industries and road construction projects.
- Basic supervision experience.
- Valid DZ driver's license required, with a good driving record to operate a company vehicle, or willingness to acquire one within a specified timeframe.
Work Conditions/Physical Demands
- Climb ladders safely.
- Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Lift and carry up to 60 pounds unassisted.
- Wear personnel protective equipment, including winter coats, rain gear, hard hats, earplugs, and safety glasses.
- Be available to backfill for the Patrol Supervisor and work overtime during the week and on weekends if required.
- Be prepared for emergency response situations.
- Participate in emergency response rotations, requiring overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
