About the Role

The University Health Network is seeking a skilled Dialysis Porter to join our team at the Bickle Centre, Toronto Rehab. As a key member of our Environmental Services team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the cleanliness and organization of our facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend required education and safety training to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Assist in training new personnel in all required job functions to ensure a smooth onboarding process.
  • Collect, package, and dispose of all garbage and recyclables in a responsible and environmentally friendly manner.
  • Replenish supplies in washrooms to maintain a clean and hygienic environment.
  • Perform cleaning duties, including sweeping, dusting, disinfecting, and washing of assigned areas to maintain a high level of cleanliness.
  • Porter patients to and from appointments to the TUC Dialysis Suite, ensuring their safety and comfort at all times.
  • Communicate changes in schedule to the Clinic's Administrative Assistant to ensure seamless coordination.
  • Coordinate transportation, as needed, to ensure patients receive timely and efficient care.
  • Porter patients to and from other clinic appointments, including external appointments, to provide convenient and reliable transportation.
  • Deliver patient records, appointment cards, supplies, and equipment to and from the clinics to maintain efficient communication and care.
  • Assist with patient handling as required, ensuring their safety and comfort at all times.
  • Assist with preparation of patient transfers to outpatient clinics to ensure a smooth and efficient process.
  • Secondary clinic duties as required to support the team and maintain a high level of service.

Requirements

  • Partial secondary school up to grade 10 or equivalent to demonstrate a strong foundation in education.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with patients, staff, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to follow procedures and verbal instruction exactly to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Flexibility to adapt to daily changes in workload to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Ability to handle heavy exertion, including constant standing and/or walking, to maintain a high level of energy and productivity.
  • Ability to handle heavy physical effort, including pushing wheelchairs, stretchers, and other equipment, to ensure patient safety and comfort.
  • Ability to operate machinery, floor polishers, and other equipment to maintain a clean and efficient work environment.
  • Ability to handle lifting weights up to lbs to ensure patient safety and comfort.
