Overview

The University Health Network, a leading healthcare institution, seeks an experienced Industrial Mechanic to join its facilities management team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for ensuring the effective operation of mechanical machinery and equipment throughout the network.

Salary

$73,000 - $90,000 per year, commensurate with experience.

Job Description

As an Industrial Mechanic, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining and repairing designated fans, pumps, air compressors, hospital equipment, and other mechanical machinery;
  • Operating hand and power tools to fabricate parts required during maintenance, repair, etc.;
  • Installing mechanical items;
  • Communicating with clients regarding required downtime;
  • Setting up and maintaining machine tools and the machine shop;
  • Contributing to the maintenance of inventory levels;
  • Working in compliance with occupational health and safety regulations;
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of high school completion plus Millwright Apprenticeship Program or equivalent;
  • 7,040 hours of on-the-job training and 8 weeks (240 hours) of technical training in class each year for four years;
  • Possession of the provincial Certificate of Qualifications;
  • Ability to read and understand short notes, forms, instructions, memos, and letters;
  • Good eye-hand coordination;
  • Ability to estimate and measure sizes and distances accurately;
  • Effective organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills;
