Job Summary

The Electrical Systems Specialist will play a critical role in our production process, focusing on electrical troubleshooting, repairs, preventative maintenance, calibrations, and GMP activities to ensure SISPQ and machine integrity. This position requires technical expertise to train and teach proper operations procedures, ensuring equipment longevity and reliability through production projects and maintenance activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement predictive and preventative maintenance programs for material handling/production/process/development equipment, ensuring compliance with SISPQ standards.
  • Initiate and execute production maintenance projects, including OQ's, electrical upgrades, and improvements, to completion.
  • Install, repair, and maintain electrical, electronic equipment, instrumentation, and computerized systems related to production machinery and systems, adhering to CSA and ESA standards.
  • Utilize electrical testing equipment to diagnose problems and perform work efficiently to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Supply training and coaching on equipment as needed, able to travel for training if necessary.
  • Take ownership and accountability for issues, working proactively to resolve them and communicate effectively with peers, vendors, customers, and supervisors.
  • Be a team player, contributing positively and suggesting ideas to improve the business.
  • Assist with mechanical repairs as needed and effectively use SAP maintenance module to search history, create work orders, find parts, and ensure supporting documentation is prepared.
  • Create and modify drawings, P&ID's, and schematics when required and prepare/update standard operating procedures (SOP's) and standard documents (SD's).
  • Work as a member of a team to achieve all outcomes, performing all work in support of our Corporate Values: Pride, Accountability, Integrity, and Diligence, demonstrating strong and visible support of our values.
  • Perform all work in accordance with established regulatory and compliance and safety requirements.

Requirements:

  • Ontario Industrial Electrician license (442A) or Construction and Maintenance Electrician License (309A) is required; Apotex will consider candidates expecting to be licensed within 3 months.
  • Experience troubleshooting electronic and electrical control systems in a manufacturing environment.
  • An Electronics, Electro-Mechanical Technician, or Technologist Diploma would be a significant asset.
  • Programming and troubleshooting Allen Bradley SLC500 Programmable Logic Controllers using RS Logix500 software are required, along with extensive knowledge on Omron, Siemens Simatic 7, Klockner Muller, and Toshiba PLCs.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, self-motivated, and willingness to learn new skills.
