Senior Backend Engineer

LotusFlare is a leading provider of a cloud-native digital commerce and monetization platform that simplifies technology and customer experience to deliver valuable outcomes to communications services providers.

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Backend Engineer to join our Server Engineering team, based in Toronto.

Job Description:

As a Senior Backend Engineer at LotusFlare, you will be responsible for further developing, securing, and scaling the backend infrastructure to support the platform in order to handle millions of concurrent API calls.

You will work on mission-critical, highly available distributed systems and collaborate closely with product and other functional engineering teams.

Your daily responsibilities will include the entire software cycle from developing/testing, to code reviews and maintaining/managing your code/application on production.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and debug complex software systems
  • Work on a product with a large user base and handle complex time-critical issues
  • Develop scalable, highly available, distributed systems
  • Ensure code is reusable, maintainable, and well-documented
  • Drive change and propose new solutions
  • Share knowledge with other engineers and learn from them
Requirements:
  • At least 5 years of experience working as a Software Engineer
  • Experience with Lua, Java, and Scala programming languages
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services and/or Azure
  • Experience with NoSQL databases (preferably Redis or Cassandra)
  • Advanced understanding of the network stack, protocol, and RESTful services
  • Experience with messaging platforms like Kafka
