Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to join our Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the implementation and development of our AMI network and associated systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth integration of the advanced metering solution with existing systems and infrastructure.
  • Manage allocated project resources and associated costs to achieve predetermined goals effectively.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the AMI team, internal stakeholders, and external contractors.
  • Co-ordinate and participate in the testing of advanced metering systems, including data validation, communication interfaces, and metering functionalities.
  • Assist in the planning, development, and maintenance of test environments and test data sets to support system testing activities.
  • Offer guidance and expertise in developing procedures for mitigating meter installation issues and installation.
  • Oversee technical definition, design, development, troubleshooting, and testing of software solutions (such as leak detection) to meet project accountabilities.
  • Communicate project expectations to the team, maintain relationships with business units, vendors, and stakeholders, ensuring smooth project execution.
  • Coordinate AMI Network tools implementation among internal stakeholders, project personnel, and contractors.
  • Act as a central point of contact for AMI meter implementation activities and support.
  • Participate in field testing of advanced metering RF networks.
  • Support the identification, documentation, and resolution of RF network issues, working closely with RF engineers and software developers.
  • Create and ensure compliance with regulations, codes, standards, and guidelines.
  • Responsible for ensuring that engineering documentation for the AMI system is completed.
  • Monitor progress, track activities, and provide status reports to key stakeholders and project personnel.
Requirements

We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in project management and technical expertise in AMI technologies. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering and be registered or eligible for registration with the Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia as a P. Eng. Equivalent experience will also be considered with any relevant internships or academic projects related to testing, quality assurance, or utility industry.

The successful candidate will have experience in overseeing technical field personnel, general knowledge of AMI technologies, and a proven ability in managing budgets, leadership, problem-solving, and effective communication skills. Proficiency in project management tools like MS Project is also required.
